WTBU<\/strong> brought home the “Station of the Year” award for the first time during this year’s annual College Radio Awards in New York City. College Music Journal (CMJ) chose WTBU out of four international nominees to win the festival’s top prize.<\/p>\n

“A big fat “congrats” to all the winners!” CMJ posted on its website.<\/p>\n

The station was also nominated for “Best Use of Limited Resources,” “Biggest Champion of the Local Scene” and Music Director James Miller was nominated for “Music Director of the Year.” WTBU was deemed “Biggest Champion of the Local Scene” at last year’s festival.<\/p>\n

Started in the late 1950s, WTBU is completely student run with the help of faculty adviser Professor Anne Donohue<\/a><\/strong>. It is live on air 20 hours per day at wtburadio.com and BU cable channel six. Howard Stern<\/strong> boasts that WTBU was the first station, in a string of many, to fire him.<\/p>\n
