Social Media Engagement and Quit Intentions Among Youth With Exclusive E-cigarette Use: The Moderating Role of Social Norms

Youth who engaged w/ e-cig related posts on social media were more likely to express an intention to quit – but only when social norms didn’t reinforce vaping.

  • Social media engagement = higher quit intentions.❌
  • But if their peers approved of vaping? That intention dropped.🧠
  • Takeaway: Social media is a powerful tool, but we need to pair it with norm-reinforcing strategies to support youth cessation.
