The Brattle Theatre, 40 Brattle Street, Cambridge, MA

Jan Egleson of Boston University's College of Communication is the great cinematic chronicler of the city of Boston. His career has taken him from an appearance in the Friends of Eddie Coyle (1973), to giving early screen appearances to Casey & Ben Affleck, to a Special Jury Prize at the 1988 Sundance Film Festival. His preeminent achievement may well be in the Boston Trilogy-- Billy in the Lowlands (1979), The Dark End of the Street (1981), and The Little Sister (1985)-- a series of independent films depicting the lives of working-class youth in Boston & Cambridge, shot on-the-ground in the city with casts of local faces. For the first time ever, see a six-film retrospective of Egleson’s seminal works at the Brattle Theatre from October 4 to 6, with Egleson in attendance for Q&A discussions.

This event is from October 4 to 6.
