PRLAB LAUNCHES SUSTAIN4SAPIENS TO ENERGIZE THE CLIMATE CONVERSATION DURING EARTH MONTH

PRLab, an award-winning, student-run public relations agency at Boston University, partners with The 51 Percent Project on a new online initiative, Sustain4Sapiens, to galvanize the conversation about climate change on BU’s campus during Earth Month, April 2019.
Surveys show that a growing majority of American voters – more than 51 percent – say they are concerned or alarmed about climate change, but are unsure what they can do to help.
Sarah Finnie Robinson, director of The 51 Percent Project and a senior fellow at Boston University’s Institute for Sustainable Energy, has created a new climate change communications initiative to identify best practices to engage this majority and motivate them to action.
“Awareness of climate change is at a record high,” Ms. Robinson says. “More people understand that we are the endangered species! University students worldwide are accelerating demand for clean-energy solutions. By launching the Sustain4Sapiens campaign, PRLab is able to build on this momentum and bring it home to Boston University.”
With the intention of inspiring students to #ActOnClimate, a team of five from PRLab is leading and developing, Sustain4Sapiens, which started on Instagram on March 15. Under Ms. Robinson’s guidance, Sustain4Sapiens provides a platform where Gen Z can initiate open dialogue focused directly on acting on climate problems and generating solutions.
Starting with BU students, Sustain4Sapiens PRLab and the 51 Percent Project aim to accelerate solutions by connecting with the activated spirits and broad networks of Gen Z. They are eager to collaborate with like-minded individuals and organizations within the BU community.
“We are the only species who can solve this problem. It’s up to us to alter the stigma surrounding climate change, and that begins with conversation,” says Julie Fager, PRLab Account Supervisor. "That is why we would like to see more people join the movement, and they can start by following Sustain4Sapiens on Instagram."
