Film and Television alum Henry Hughes wins Oscar nomination

COM alum Henry Hughes ('06) scored an Oscar nomination for his short film, "Day One," which follows the story of an Afghan-American woman who joins the U.S. military as an interpreter and is sent to Afghanistan. On her first mission, she follows the troops as they hunt down a bomb-maker and must overcome the gender and cultural disparities to help a man's pregnant wife when she goes into labor.

Hughes was also the 2015 Redstone alumni winner last spring for same film, which was his thesis project at the American Film Institute.
