COM photojournalists win big at regional contest

COM students took home more than half of the total awards at Friday’s Boston Press Photographer Association’s annual contest for college photographers.

Lauryn Allen was the big winner, earning 12 of the 18 awards going to COM students. She took first place in the news, feature and story categories.

Other award recipients from COM:

  • Caitlin Fauld, News
  • Campbell Zachara, Feature
  • Grace Ferguson, Sports
  • Robert Branning, Sports
  • Mohan Ge, Portrait
  • Anran Xie, Video/Multimedia

“This award comes from the oldest press photographer’s association in the country and a place or mention in any category is a wonderful accomplishment,” said Stephen Haines, a COM lecturer in journalism and former photo editor for the Boston Globe. “It is one of the toughest regional college competitions in the country, and a win is recognized throughout our industry.”
