COM makes yet another list of top film schools
Boston University’s College of Communication landed on another major industry list of top programs, this time on MovieMaker’s “Best Film Schools in the U.S. and Canada, 2026.”
The magazine, which describes itself as a “leading resource on the art and business of making movies and the world’s most widely read independent film magazine,” praised Boston University’s program:
The alma mater of Josh and Benny Safdie is known for small classes sizes of 12-15 students and a vast alumni network that includes graduates from Howard Stern (COM’77) to Julianne Moore (CFA’83). It connects students with internships in both Boston (a top 10 media market) and Los Angeles, offering opportunities at companies including Disney, Sony, NBCUniversal, Hello Sunshine and more.
Undergraduates pursuing a B.S. in Film and TV start off studying film history, theory, writing and production before moving into screenwriting, cinematography, editing, directing, producing or management. Grad students can pursue degrees in TV, screenwriting, film and TV studies, or media ventures.
