AP honors WTBU student reporters
WBTU, BU’s student-run radio station, won two college radio awards from the Associated Press of New England, the news organization announced today.
Both stories were produced for Prof. Anne Donohue's radio class.
Ali Donohue (’12) won best feature reporting for “Ladyfest Easthampton,” which takes a glimpse at the performers and activists behind Smith College’s feminist rock festival.
Reporters Erin Kelly (’10), Danit Kaya (SPH ’11), Anna Branwen Knapp (SPH ’07) and Shweta Krishnan (’11) won best documentary for “Life Without Parole: Juvenile Justice?” The program probes a difficult subject: whether it’s fair to sentence juvenile homicide convicts to a life sentence. Students Hillary Hoffman ('11) and Annemarie Singh ('11) also contributed stories and Jackson Tobin ('12) helped with post-production.
As faculty adviser to WTBU, Prof. Donohue edited both stories.
WTBU is a volunteer radio station that broadcasts live 20 hours a day at 89.3 FM, 640 AM, BU Channel 6 and online at wtburadio.org. WTBU News airs Thursdays at 6 p.m.
