Unfortunately, after 2.5 years of tolerating each others\u2019 company, Lydia decided she wants to be an only dog and tries to kill Clodia every chance she gets. Through carefully managed room rotation (and doggy Prozac), we\u2019ve managed to maintain a semblance of normal life. When she is not plotting world domination (or at least Clodia-domination), Lydia likes to chase squirrels, eat kibble, sleep, tremble, pee on rugs, and make us carry her on walks (she is very lazy, but the doggy psychiatrist got mad when we called her lazy and said she might be in pain. We are pretty sure she is just lazy). Clodia also likes to chase squirrels, sleep, pee on wood floors, play with toys, walk, and bark at big trucks, strangers, and dogs. The model for Plato\u2019s Noble Hound\/ Philosopher-King in The Republic, he is fiercely brave in the face of squirrels, birds, and all things that squeak, with the gentle soul and general demeanor of a Sesame Street Muppet. He loves to interrupt video chats and voice his many opinions, especially when Maya zooms with his best friend Professor Henderson! Two hens are Leghorns, two are Amberlinks; the chicks are all Easter Eggers. Likely the most pampered chickens in the world, they enjoy daily treats and cuddles\u2014at least from Sage. Joe, on the other hand, begrudgingly assembled their run and installed a solar fan on their coop so they wouldn\u2019t \u201cget too hot\u201d in the summer. Occasionally, they even receive enriching music lessons on the xylophone and tambourine.<\/div>\n<div data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">As in Ancient Rome, these chickens communicate the will of the gods through their feeding practices (the<span>\u00a0<\/span><i data-ogsc=\"\">auspicia ex tripudiis<\/i>). But unlike Publius Claudius Pulcher at the battle of Drepana (249 BCE), we would never hold them responsible for the gods\u2019 will.
