{"id":7434,"date":"2020-09-18T13:49:46","date_gmt":"2020-09-18T17:49:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/classics\/?page_id=7434"},"modified":"2025-05-07T09:08:42","modified_gmt":"2025-05-07T13:08:42","slug":"buph","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/classics\/study-abroad\/buph\/","title":{"rendered":"BU Philhellenes"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Purpose<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Department of Classical Studies at Boston University in cooperation with the Program in Modern Greek is proud to announce the Boston University Philhellenes (BUPh) project.\u00a0 This project has three primary goals:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">1. To promote the appreciation of Greek culture and its continuous history from antiquity to the present day through cultural events at Boston University.\u00a0 Such events will encourage links between Boston University students and faculty, the Greek community of Boston, and the Boston community at large.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">2. To promote <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/classics\/study-abroad\/greece\/summer-2\/\">Summer Study in Greece<\/a> that will permit students to learn the Greek language and experience Greek culture.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">3. To promote scholarships for the study of Modern Greek at Boston University.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Structure<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Boston University Philhellenes project comprises three related organizations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">1.\u00a0 The Boston University Philhellenes.\u00a0 This new student organization is based in the Department of Classical Studies and open to all students who associate themselves with Hellenic culture and ideals.\u00a0 The faculty advisor for the group is Kelly Polychroniou, Senior Lecturer in Modern Greek.
