Please refer to the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/academics\/cas\/programs\/classical-studies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Course Bulletin<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>for a list of the approved related courses. If you are unsure who to meet with, our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/classics\/people\/department-administration\/\">Director of Undergraduate Studies<\/a> is happy to meet with you.<\/li>\n<li>Complete a Major Declaration form (found on specific major pages below)<\/li>\n<li>Complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cas\/cas-advising-major-declaration-form\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CAS Major Declaration form<\/a><br \/>\n<em>* This form only applies to CAS students. Students in other colleges should consult academic advisors with in their college.\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/classics\/academics\/undergraduate-programs\/majors\/classical-civilization-major\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Classical Civilization Major<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>A\u00a0<\/span>Classical Civilization<span> major provides an introduction to classical civilization through courses in Greek and Roman literature in translation, history, philosophy religion, art, and archaeology. The major focuses on courses exploring the cultural legacy of Greece and Rome through readings of classical writers in English translation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/classics\/academics\/undergraduate-programs\/majors\/ancient-greek-major\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Ancient Greek Language and Culture Major<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>An Ancient Greek<span>\u00a0major is for students who desire a deeper understanding of Greek literature and culture by reading texts in the original language. Students may also choose a major that combines the studies of Ancient Greek and Latin.<\/span><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/classics\/academics\/undergraduate-programs\/majors\/latin-major\/\"><strong>Latin <\/strong><strong>Language and Culture Major<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A Latin<span> major is for students who desire a deeper understanding of Roman literature and culture by reading texts in the original language. Students may also choose a major that combines the studies of Ancient Greek and Latin.<\/span><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/classics\/academics\/undergraduate-programs\/majors\/ancient-greek-latin-major\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Ancient Greek &amp; Latin Major<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ancient Greek\u00a0or\u00a0Latin\u00a0majors are for students who desire a deeper understanding of Greek and Roman literature and culture by reading texts in the original language. Students may also choose a major that combines the studies of Ancient Greek and Latin.<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/classics\/academics\/undergraduate-programs\/majors\/classics-archaeology-major\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Classics &amp; Archaeology Major<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0Classics and Archaeology\u00a0major is recommended for students with interests in the study of classical literature and society in conjunction with the study of the ancient Mediterranean and Near East via material remains many of which are available to study in Boston museums.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/classics\/academics\/undergraduate-programs\/majors\/classics-philosophy-major\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Classics &amp; Philosophy Major<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0Classics and Philosophy\u00a0major is recommended for students especially interested in ancient philosophy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/classics\/academics\/undergraduate-programs\/majors\/classics-religion-major\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Classics &amp; Religion Major<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0Classics and Religion\u00a0joint major or a\u00a0Myth Studies\u00a0minor is especially recommended for students with a particular interest in myth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Classical Studies offers four majors &#8211; Classical Civilization, Ancient Greek, Latin, and Ancient Greek and Latin, and three joint majors &#8211; Classics and Archaeology, Classics &amp; Religion and Classics &amp; Philosophy.
