Rose Maria Woodson
the shiny skinny

all the girls are fresh shiny
windows walking
through themselves to themselves
wrapped in slant slang & silk scarves
they know they can’t afford
but buy anyway
because the world balances
on just the right blue
the right blue that loves
their momentary flowering like
a perfect vase
