Editor's Note
This has been a year of substantial change for Clarion. In order to present a wider range of voices—and as part of our magazine’s maturation—we've opened submissions to authors outside the campus, and in the wider world of letters.
Some of the writers in the present issue are from Boston University; some are our Boston neighbors; others are from much farther abroad. But all of the map the texture of complicated experiences into sensitive language, which is what the editors of Clarion have looked for since the magazine began publication in 1998. It is through such representations of common fears (and triumphs, and disasters… ) that we hope to remind every reader of his or her own “personage in a multitude.”
In addition to enlarging our submissions pool, we've redesigned our website in order to expand our readership. What started as a cut-and-pasted and copy-stapled ‘zine has managed over the past eleven years to keep up with the rapid changes of digital literature. The full contents of each issue are available at http://bu.edu/clarion.
On behalf of the staff and contributors, my thanks to all the members of our community—students, faculty, staff, and alumni —without whose devotion and hard work we could not have kept publishing for over a decade.
A special thanks to our financial benefactors, at Boston University and otherwise, whose support allows us to stay in print even as numerous forces conspire against ink and paper.
