In his own words<\/strong>: “My time in the City Planning program really helped cement the analytical mindset that is key to what I do every day. Without the background and context I learned from the program, as well as the extremely practical courses which involved creating reports and sifting out important details, I think my job would be far more difficult to do.<\/em>”<\/p>\n

Charles works for the Codman Square Neighborhood Development Corporation in Dorchester as the Small Business Development Specialist. His work is multi-faceted and includes: supporting local merchants and promoting the local business district; assisting prospective entrepreneurs in developing their ideas; and working at a higher level to improve the structures in place to promote economic development in and around South Dorchester. Examples of his work include helping a local woman open a soul food restaurant, teaching small business courses to those looking to start their own businesses, and being a key person in the development of a jobs hub \/ incubation lab in the area.<\/p>\n
