College of Arts and Sciences Interns

 


Spring 2021

Emanne Khan – Emanne Khan is a sophomore at BU majoring in political science. Originally from New Hampshire, she has always loved writing and creating, which she is excited to continue as the CPUA communications and outreach intern this semester. On campus, Emanne writes for the Boston Political Review and is part of a research project investigating race and gender inequalities in STEM. In her free time, she enjoys watching her favorite shows, following basketball, and going for long walks around the city.

 Liz McGrath  Liz is a graduating senior in the College of Arts and Sciences studying English with a minor in psychology. This past semester she was thrilled to be an Administrative Activities intern for the City Planning and Urban Affairs department, which she thoroughly enjoyed and learned a lot from. Liz loves the city of Boston, and will be staying at Boston University to work after she graduates. Outside of her studies, she can usually be found reading a book, rollerblading, or searching for the best cup of coffee in the city. 

 

Yash Subrahmanyam  Yash Subrahmanyam is a rising junior at CAS, majoring in Computer Science and minoring in International Relations, aspiring to specialize in Quantum Computing. He is currently applying his passion for art and graphic design in his position as the design and media intern for BU City Planning and Urban Affairs. On campus, Yash is the content director of the Entrepreneurship Club, and is also a member of the Robotics Arm Software group in the Mars Rover Club. Yash enjoys making music, playing various sports, and learning new languages in his free time.

 


Fall 2020

Anne Jonas – Anne Jonas is a senior at Boston University studying English with a double-minor in French and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. As a Communications and Outreach Intern, Anne is interested in content creation, graphic design, and the social and cultural aspects of urban development. On campus, Anne is a reporter and associate editor for the Daily Free Press, a volunteer with the Community Service Center’s Student Food Rescue Program, and former Editor-in-Chief of the Hoochie Media Project, an intersectional feminist collective. In her free time, Anne enjoys roller skating and painting.

Shania Choksi – Shania Choksi is a rising junior at Boston University double majoring in Architectural Studies and Economics in the College of Arts and Science. She is interested in urban design and architecture especially with the rising demands of sustainable architecture. Last semester she interned at the City Planning and Urban Affairs department, which she thoroughly enjoyed and learned a lot from it. Along with this her passions lie in economics; hence she is the head of public relations in the Asian Politics and Economics club. On campus, she is part of the  triathlon team, as swimming is her favorite sport.

 


Spring 2020

Linda Pham – Linda Pham is a freshman at Boston University. From a young age, she fell in love with the ocean and as she grew older, her promise to protect the ocean and all its inhabitants led her to major in Marine Sciences. Besides studying marine biology, she also likes to create media designs and film lifestyle videos. 

Katherine Calandriello  Katherine Calandriello is a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences who studies environmental analysis and policy. She is interested in urban planning from an environmentally conscious perspective and wants to help make cities sustainable and adapt to climate change. This past semester she has done research making a pollinator plan for BU and has previously done research on lead pipe removal and eco gentrification. She is currently president of the Questrom club, Net Impact, which she has been a part of since 2017.

Imani Roberson  Imani Roberson is a senior at Boston University majoring in public relations and political science. She’s also a proud Detroiter. On campus, Imani is heavily involved in the Inner Strength Gospel Choir and is President of Boston University’s Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).  Imani is an RA for Upper Bay State Road and enjoys helping students find their grounding at BU. In her free time, she enjoys photography and videography. 

 


Fall 2019

Yian Zhao – Yian is a dual degree student in College of Arts and Science and College of Fine Arts, majoring in Computer Science and Graphic Design. She is interested in user experience design and the relationship between human and the environment. As a media and design intern, Yian will help with the creation of flyers, posters and other kinds of printed materials. She hopes to learn more about urban studies in the City Planning and Urban Affairs Program.

Marvin Kwang – Marvin is a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in international relations. Over the summer, Marvin was studying abroad in London. This semester, he will be working at the City Planning and Urban Affairs department, assisting the program manager with the day to day operations of the program.

 

Delanie Fico – Delanie is a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences pursuing a dual degree in philosophy and psychology, with the goal of attending Law School after graduation. On-campus, she can be found writing and editing articles for Boston University’s HerCampus chapter or leading admission tours for prospective students. Delanie is thrilled to be the communications and outreach intern for the City Planning and Urban Affairs Program! Her objective for this endeavor is to create connections with faculty and students to the City Planning and Urban Affairs Program through blog posts, publications, and social media.

 


Spring 2019

Min Hyun Cho – Min Hyun is a sophomore majoring in International Relations and minoring in Asian Studies. She came to the states when she was 16 and entered Maranatha High School in California as a sophomore. She has participated in many extra-curricular activities since high school. Min Hyun truly enjoys meeting new people and hearing different opinions on various subjects. At Boston University, she is involved in many clubs, including Model UN, RHA, and BUIAA. This semester, Min Hyun will be working as the communications and outreach intern assisting with social media, written publications, and program marketing and outreach.

Anzel Knoui – Coming from Athens, Greece, Anzel is an Economics major and a Business and Mathematics Minor at Boston University who is greatly interested in topics related to innovation, city finance, regional economics, urban design, and sustainable development. As an Administrative Activities Intern, Anzel aims to further enhance important everyday skills such as being efficient, developing organizational strategies, and efficiently managing time in a demanding workplace. Anzel has always sought the unique and aesthetic in the cultural and social communities she engages with and one of the values that are very important to her, is giving back to the community and helping others to achieve their goals. As Anzel builds and develops her academic and career paths, working in an inspiring environment with the City Planning and Urban Affairs Team she will provide herself in the office while exploring various ideas and perspectives that will prepare her for her future research, academic, and career decisions.

Roxana LiuRoxana is a freshman studying in the College of Arts and Sciences with an intended major in Statistics and a minor in Urban Studies. She will be an Administrative intern in the City Planning and Urban Affairs Program this spring, hoping to gain some useful office skills and to explore the academic field of city planning. In her free time, she likes to visit new cities and taste good food with friends!

 

Sihan Zhang – Sihan is currently a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences philosophy program at Boston University. She enjoys graphic design and during high school helped create various posters and publications, as well as design promotional materials for an internship in 2017. Sihan will be the media and design intern in the City Planning and Urban Affairs Program this spring where she will assist in the creation of program flyers, magazines, and other print and digital media publications. 

 


Spring 2018

Hannah Dion – Hannah is a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in English with a History minor. She is excited to serve as the department’s Media and Content Assistant this spring, preparing articles to bring the program’s news to the community. Hannah is interested in American Literature and public interest law, and in her spare time enjoys falling off her snowboard and playing trumpet in the Boston University Pep Band.

Maneesha Khalae – Maneesha is a freshman in the College of Arts and Sciences, double-majoring in English and Psychology. She is interested in writing, activism and the relationship between housing and poverty. In her free time, she reads, writes and attempts to learn new languages. As a Media Intern, Maneesha will be assisting with the City Planning and Urban Affairs social media platforms and writing news features about program events.

 


Fall 2017

Meaghan T’ao – Meaghan is a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences where she is majoring in English, with a minor in International Relations. Meaghan enjoys writing, and has had internships with financial and lifestyle magazines, as well as at the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Centre at BU.  This semester, Meaghan is our Media Assistant Intern from the College of Arts and Sciences. She will be writing news features on articles about events happening in the City Planning and Urban Affairs Program.

Jiayu Zhou – Jiayu is a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Architectural Studies, with an interest in architectural robotics and sustainable design. In her free time, she enjoys physical training, reading, global cultures and exploring anything new. This semester, Jiayu is our media and design assistant from College of Arts and Sciences. She will be designing posters, flyers, and other promotional materials for various events in the City Planning and Urban Affairs Program.

 


Spring 2017

Cecilia de Almeida – Cecilia is a sophomore in CAS studying international relations and economics. Being born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, she has always been interested in the role intergovernmental organizations plays in the field of foreign affairs as well as understanding how domestic policy is capable of affecting the dynamics between different countries. She has previously participated in sustainability conferences in Kenya and South Africa and is currently a blogger for the International Relations Review magazine, commenting on current global issues. This semester she will be interning as a Media Intern in City Planning and Urban Affairs Program.

Karol Montilla – Born in the Dominican Republic, Karol moved to the Bronx at an early age. Currently a junior at Boston University, she is pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in American Studies with a minor in Economics. She plans to earn her masters in Urban Planning at BU, with a special interest in Environmental Studies. In her free time, she can be found at the BU Art Galleries and (attempting) to lift weights at FitRec. This semester, Karol is an Intern from the College of Arts and Sciences, and will be assisting in the daily operations of the City Planning and Urban Affairs Program.

 

Savannah Wu – Savannah is a sophomore at Boston University, majoring in architectural studies. She is passionate about the environment, design, and enjoys biking. Savannah is proficient in PhotoShop, Illustrator, and InDesign. This semester, Savannah is our Media Assistant Intern from the College of Arts and Sciences.
