Tatiana Padilla<\/a>, a postdoctoral associate at the Center for Innovation in Social Science, has been named recipient of the inaugural Outstanding Postdoc Award<\/a> by the BU Office of Professional Development and Postdoctoral Affairs (PDPA). PDPA strives to promote postdocs\u2019 professional and career development and recognize them for their contributions to research, university service and our community. The award recognizes outstanding performance in one or more of the following areas: scholarship; DEI commitment; mentoring; teaching; innovation; and leadership. Dr. Padilla received her award at a ceremony on September 24 led by PDPA’s Director of Postdoctoral Affairs, Pallavi Eswara.\u00a0\u00a0<\/a>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Padilla’s\u00a0 research explores the intersections of inequality, immigration and public policy, with a focus on the impacts of the criminal legal system on marginalized communities. She earned her Ph.D. in Public Policy from Cornell University and has been recognized for her scholarship by the Population Association of America. Tatiana leads the RAIDS Project,<\/a> a large-scale initiative documenting immigration enforcement in the U.S., and is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of researchers. She is also a passionate educator, having taught courses on U.S. immigration at Boston University.<\/p>\n

Najwa Mayer<\/a> was named as one of two finalists. Dr. Mayer is an Assistant Professor in Women\u2019s and Gender Studies at Loyola Marymount University and was a member of the inaugural postdoctoral cohort of the Society of Fellows at the College of Arts and Sciences.<\/a><\/p>\n
