{"id":43253,"date":"2026-02-17T12:32:22","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T17:32:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cise\/?p=43253"},"modified":"2026-02-17T13:02:03","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T18:02:03","slug":"massachusetts-tech-leaders-visit-rastic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cise\/massachusetts-tech-leaders-visit-rastic\/","title":{"rendered":"Massachusetts Tech Leaders Visit RASTIC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier this month, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mass.gov\/info-details\/massachusetts-stem-advisory-council\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Massachusetts STEM Advisory Council<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> visited BU\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/eng\/academics\/teaching-and-innovation\/rastic\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Robotics &amp; Autonomous Systems Teaching and Innovation Center<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(RASTIC). The Council, which coordinates efforts to strengthen the state\u2019s STEM-skilled workforce, includes Amazon Robotics Chief Technologist Tye Brady (ENG\u201990), former Massachusetts Secretary of Education Pat Tutwiler, who recently stepped down from his position, US Congressman Jake Auchincloss (D-Mass.), and administrators from high schools, community colleges, and research universities across Massachusetts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kim Driscoll, co-chair of the council and Massachusetts Lt. Governor, addressed technology executives, government officials, educators, and students from BU and other area colleges present during the visit. In her opening remarks, she commented on how RASTIC is contributing to the collaborative \u201cinnovation economy\u201d in Massachusetts, and that \u201cInnovation happens because of this ecosystem.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">RASTIC opened in March 2024 and has since<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cise\/build-teach-learn-workspace-how-rastic-has-become-a-hub-for-robotics-innovation-among-students\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">developed into a hub for robotics innovation among students<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the Advisory Council\u2019s visit, students presented their latest projects, ranging from a pill-delivering robot to aid nurses in busy hospitals to a drone delivery system to help feed wolves living in the Texas Hill Country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Read more in BU Today\u2019s article about the visit <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/articles\/2026\/massachusetts-tech-leaders-visit-bu\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this month, the Massachusetts STEM Advisory Council visited BU\u2019s Robotics &amp; Autonomous Systems Teaching and Innovation Center (RASTIC).
