She also leads the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wisecircuits.bu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wireless Integrated Systems and Extreme Circuits (WISE-Circuits) Laboratory<\/a> at BU. She received a B.S. degree in Electronics Engineering from Sabanci University, Istanbul, and a M.S. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from \u00c9cole Polytechnique F\u00e9d\u00e9rale de Lausanne (EPFL). She received a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. She was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the\u00a0EECS Department of MIT working with Prof. Anantha P. Chandrakasan from 2016 to 2018.\u00a0 Her research interests lie at the interface of integrated circuits, signal processing, security, bio-sensing, and wireless communications to innovate system-level solutions for future energy-constrained applications. Her work on cryptographic \u201ctag of everything\u201d was featured in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/news.mit.edu\/2020\/cryptographic-tag-supply-chain-0220\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MIT News<\/a>\u00a0in February 2020; her postdoctoral research work on ultra-fast bit-level frequency hopping for physical-layer security was featured in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/news.mit.edu\/2018\/novel-transmitter-protects-wireless-data-hackers-0611\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MIT News<\/a>\u00a0in 2018 as well as other media. She is the recipient of a number of awards, including the \u201cElectrical Engineering Collaborative Research Award\u201d for her PhD research on Compressive Sampling Applications in Rapid RF Spectrum Sensing (2016).<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/systems\/profile\/francesco-orabona\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Francesco Orabona<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is an Assistant Professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and affiliated with the Computer Science Department at Boston University. He is also Director of the BU\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/view\/optimal-lab\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Optimization and Machine Learning (OPTIMAL) Lab<\/a>, which focuses on\u00a0the design and analysis of machine learning and optimization algorithms and in particular, online learning, learning with kernels, and stochastic algorithms for convex and non-convex domains.\u00a0Dr. Orabona\u2019s background covers both theoretical and practical aspects of machine learning and optimization. His current research interest is parameter-free machine learning, for which he received a Google Research Award in 2017. Prior to joining Boston University, Dr. Orabona was an Assistant Professor at Stony Brook University.\u00a0 Earlier in his career, he held research positions with Yahoo Research, NY, the Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago, the University of Milan, and the IDIAP Research Institute. He received his BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from \u00a0University of Naples Federico II, and his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the\u00a0University of Genoa (2007).\u00a0Dr. Orabona has published more than 70 papers in scientific journals and conferences.
