He is named inventor on three U.S. patent applications and has published over 30 peer-reviewed papers. <\/span>He has been awarded the 2014 Imaging Systems and Applications Best Paper Award and the 2011 Emil Wolf Outstanding Student Paper Award\u00a0from the Optical Society of America. He<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>is currently a member of the Optical Society of America (OSA) and the SPIE. He also serves as the Topical Editor of Applied Optics. Prior to joining BU, he was a postdoctoral scholar in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department at University of California, Berkeley from 2013 to 2016. He has received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2008 and a M.S. and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2010 and 2013.<br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/eng\/profile\/lei-tian\/\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lei Tian\u00a0is Assistant Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Boston University.
