In an effort to g<\/span>ive back to the CISE community, we have established the annual <\/span>CISE PhD Student Scholar Award<\/b>. Each CISE-affiliated faculty will have the opportunity to nominate one PhD applicant<\/u> for this award and a committee will evaluate all nominees based on the student\u2019s merit\/strength, potential to conduct cross-disciplinary research, and likeliness to continue PhD work with a CISE-affiliated prospective faculty advisor.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This student scholar award will bestow 3-<\/strong>4 matriculating and\/or 1st year PhD students<\/b> with a one-time endowment<\/span>\u00a0of $2,000\/each, on top of their fellowship and stipends from their College\/Department\/Division, to be used towards research-related expenses (e.g., travel to a conference, computer purchases, etc.).\u00a0<\/span>Awardees will also act as student hosts for CISE seminars during their first two years, providing them the chance to network with visiting professors and industry professionals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\nAdvisor: Wenchao Li<\/span><\/p>\n

\u0130lker I\u015f\u0131k is an incoming <\/span>PhD<\/span> student at BU ECE. He is an MSc graduate \u00a0in computer engineering from METU (Middle East Technical University). At Boston University, he will continue doing cutting-edge research on machine learning and formal methods.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Lizzy (Qian) Yue, CV<\/a>
\nAdvisor: Ayse Coskun<\/span><\/p>\n

Lizzy (Qian) Yue earned a BS in Mathematics and an MS in Artificial Intelligence from top universities in China, achieving excellent academic results. She was awarded the highly selective National Scholarship (top 0.2% nationwide) twice, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her work on AI for medical imaging has been published at MICCAI, the premier conference in this field. Her current research focuses on energy-efficient and sustainable computing systems and Green AI. At Boston University, she is honored to work with Prof. Ayse Coskun in the PEAC Lab.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Jiatong Guo, CV<\/a>
\nAdvisor: Eshed Ohn-Bar<\/p>\n

Jiatong Guo is a first-year Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering at the Human-to-Everything Lab, advised by Prof. Eshed Ohn-bar. His research interests include human-machine interaction, machine learning, and neuromorphic computing. Prior to his doctoral studies, Jiatong earned his bachelor\u2019s degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China), where he was awarded the National Scholars<\/span>hip\u2014the highest honor for Chinese undergraduates\u2014and recognized as an Outstanding Graduate. He also spent his entire fourth undergraduate year participating in the Graduate Preparation Program at the University of California, Santa Barbara.<\/div>\n
