Boston University Center for Information & Systems Engineering (CISE)<\/a> organized a workshop to help better understand earthquakes and, in the longer term, contribute to advancing earthquake sciences using AI.<\/p>\n

The in-person workshop<\/strong> brought<\/span> together expert<\/strong><\/span> speakers<\/strong> who are <\/span>earthquake scientists and <\/span>AI<\/span>\/Data Science<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Researchers. Our goal as a community is to explore where AI can create a difference in this important field and create new collaborations and sustained interest in the topic going forward.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop included an AI challenge. Participants of this challenge competed in predicting earthquake timing and surface displacement, based on the laboratory data provided by Penn State University in collaboration with Los Alamos National Laboratory supported by the Office of Science Basic Energy Sciences program. <\/span>For details please visit the Kaggle<\/a> site.<\/p>\n
