Filmmaker Rokhaya Diallo Visits Students in “Cinema-Monde: Mapping French Film” Course

Students in Prof. Jennifer Cazenave’s course “Cinema-Monde: Mapping French Film”, were joined via zoom by French journalist, writer, activist, and award-winning filmmaker, Rokhaya Diallo. After viewing Diallo’s recent film, La Parisienne Démystifiée (The Parisienne Uncovered, 2021), students had the opportunity to ask the filmmaker questions about her process and inspiration as a filmmaker, as well as current social and political trends in France. The course, which spans from the silent era to the present-day, discusses key movements in French cinema through the lens of the global.

The French program will host Rokhaya Diallo on campus in April 2023 for a live roundtable discussion, where Rokhaya and BU students and faculty will discuss how the U.S. Black Lives Matter Movement has impacted racial activists in France.

More information on the event is forth-coming. You can find out more about Rokaya’s work here: https://www.rokhayadiallo.com/
