Every year NEIC gives an award to a Distinguished Chemist in New England who has made substantial contributions to not only their field, but also to promoting chemistry through education, outreach, and service to the community. This year, the Executive Committee voted for Mark Grinstaff.<\/span><\/p>\n

The NEIC promotes educational and professional excellence in all areas of chemistry through its\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Awards Dinner<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0which was\u00a0<\/span>held this year at Brandeis University on Thursday, April 21.\u00a0 For over half a century\u00a0the NEIC has honored graduating\u00a0seniors from colleges and universities in New England who are recipients of the national the AIC student award.\u00a0 In addition to receiving a certificate, the awardees are given a complimentary, one-year student membership in the AIC. \u00a0In 1994, the\u00a0NEIC initiated the <\/span><\/strong>Secondary School Teachers Award<\/a><\/span>.\u00a0 <\/b>An outstanding high school teacher from each New England state is given an engraved plaque at the banquet. Also at the dinner the<\/span>Distinguished Chemist Award<\/a>, <\/span><\/b>this given to our very own Mark Grinstaff,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0is presented to an outstanding member of the academic, business, or government chemical community in New England. \u00a0He was also the keynote speaker at the event.<\/span><\/p>\n
