One such critical area of knowledge is bioenergetics. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>The video module below (three videos) is a series of active-learning videos based on the &#8220;Step back, Translate, Extend&#8221; model. This video module achieves the following goals: 1) review fundamental chemistry concepts, 2) introduce concepts of reaction coupling and ATP hydrolysis and 3) foreshadow more advanced biochemical topics such as metabolism.<\/p>\n<p>These videos are offered free of charge as traditional videos through YouTube and as an active-learning video module through an online platform, Edpuzzle.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ML3LJ7dh754\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Energy and Free energy (in biochemical reactions)<\/a>.\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ncN3riJDgSk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A detailed example: dissolving NaCl<\/a>.\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/yH3kWLmaxjw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reaction coupling and ATP hydrolysis<\/a>.\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In order to succeed in biochemistry, students must transfer and build upon their understanding of general chemistry and introductory biology concepts.
