Mission<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The Center for Gender, Sexuality, and Activism (CGSA) at Boston University is a resource center that strives to give voice to institutionally marginalized groups through an intersectional approach to activism and education.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our dynamic community fosters challenging and open discourse, promotes student activism, and provides resources and education for the Boston University community. <\/span><\/p>\n

The CGSA acknowledges the struggle of multiple generations of women that created this space at BU and the perils of inequality that still face our world today. We are proud to build upon the work of what was formerly the Women\u2019s Resource Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

Core Values<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The Center for Gender, Sexuality, and Activism is proud to bean all student-run space at Boston University. We use our core values as a foundation to promote safer spaces, programming, language, and activity within the Center.<\/p>\n

  • Gender Equality<\/strong><\/span>: Through feminisms and womanism we work for gender equality. We recognize the diverse experiences of people of all genders.<\/li>\n
  • Anti-Oppression<\/strong><\/span>: We work together to fight all forms of oppression including ableism, ageism, colonialism, homophobia, racism, sexism, transphobia, classism, and any other prejudice that proclaims one group to be inferior to others. The Center is a place to analyze political, economic, and social inequality, and to come together to discuss ways of combating patriarchy, with an intersectional approach.<\/li>\n
  • Empowerment<\/span>:<\/strong> We empower each other to make our own decisions and act on our beliefs. We validate our past experiences and use discourse and education to turn our experiences into action.<\/li>\n
  • Consensus<\/span>: <\/strong>By using consensus, we choose cooperation over competition and validate everyone\u2019s perspectives. We hold each other and our organization accountable to our decisions.<\/li>\n
  • Action<\/span>:<\/strong> We do not just talk about changing our world; we demand change. We know that action is key in the fight against oppression, and we encourage our community to speak out and act on our shared ideals. Our belief in action means we stand in solidarity with other student and community groups in the fight for social justice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
