{"id":8391,"date":"2017-01-19T08:20:43","date_gmt":"2017-01-19T13:20:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cgcm\/?p=8391"},"modified":"2017-01-19T08:21:29","modified_gmt":"2017-01-19T13:21:29","slug":"call-for-papers-yale-edinburgh-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cgcm\/2017\/01\/19\/call-for-papers-yale-edinburgh-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Papers: Migration, Exile, and Pilgrimage in World Christianity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>This is the official call for papers for the Yale-Edinburgh Group on the History of the Missionary Movement and World Christianity conference, which will be held at Yale Divinity School in New Haven, Connecticut on June 29 \u2013 July 1, 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Offers of short papers are welcome on any aspect of the conference theme:\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/divinity-adhoc.library.yale.edu\/Yale-Edinburgh\/2017theme.htm\">Migration, Exile, and Pilgrimage in the History of Missions and\u00a0World\u00a0Christianity<\/a><strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Please submit your paper proposal as an email attachment to Martha Smalley (<a href=\"mailto:martha.smalley@yale.edu\">martha.smalley@yale.edu<\/a>) by March 5. Your proposal should include your name, academic affiliation\/status, and a one paragraph summary of the proposed topic. If your proposal is accepted, you will be notified by March 15. Our pattern has been to have each oral presentation limited to 20-25 minutes, followed by discussion. Full papers are welcomed in advance and, if received by June 27, will be available for download by conference participants.<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary information about the meeting is available at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/divinity-adhoc.library.yale.edu\/Yale-Edinburgh\/2017y-einfo.htm\">http:\/\/divinity-adhoc.library.yale.edu\/Yale-Edinburgh\/2017y-einfo.htm<\/a>, including a link to the pre-registration\/accommodations form.\u00a0 If you plan to attend the conference, please submit the pre-registration form at your earliest convenience; attendance at the meeting will be limited to 75 people. If you need a letter of invitation in order to obtain a visa or institutional funding, please indicate this on the registration form. The registration deadline is April 30<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Participation in the meeting is limited to members of the Yale-Edinburgh Group, which consists\u00a0<em>de facto<\/em>\u00a0of the members of the\u00a0\u201cMissions\u201d listserv.\u00a0 If you know of people who may be interested in participating in the conference but are not members of the listserv, please ask them to contact me.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to funds contributed by the Centre for the Study of World Christianity at the University of Edinburgh, we are able to waive the $75 registration fee for all participants who have student status, and subsidize housing costs.<\/p>\n<p>Information about a small number of fellowships sponsored by the Yale Divinity Library\u2019s David M. Stowe Fund for Mission Research will be forthcoming next week.
