Generally, an upgrade represents a substantial reinvestment in the existing piece of equipment. If the value of the upgrade is $<strong>5,000<\/strong> or more, the purchase can be processed as moveable capital equipment.<\/p>\n<p>When ordering an upgrade, please include the BU-tag number for the asset being upgraded and a comment on the purpose of the upgrade in the purchase requisition.<\/p>\n<p>An additional tag will be affixed on the new equipment or on the existing asset if the upgrade is un-taggable.<\/p>\n<p>Accessories, replacement parts, and repairs with a value of less than $5,000 will be treated as an expense item.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An upgrade is defined as a purchase that extends the useful life of an existing piece of equipment by more than one year.
