feature<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>The musical&nbsp;<em>Sunday in the Park with George&nbsp;<\/em>is inspired by the famous 19th-century pointillist painting&nbsp;<em>A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte<\/em>&nbsp;by Georges Seurat.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Productions of the Pulitzer Prize\u2013 and Tony Award\u2013winning show by James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim typically have sets that mimic Seurat\u2019s colorful painting. But for the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cfa\/featured-work\/sunday-in-the-park-with-george\/\">CFA performances of&nbsp;<em>Sunday in the <\/em><\/a><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cfa\/featured-work\/sunday-in-the-park-with-george\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Par<\/em><\/a><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cfa\/featured-work\/sunday-in-the-park-with-george\/\"><em>k&nbsp;at<\/em><\/a> BU&#8217;s Joan &amp; Edgar Booth Theatre, director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cfa\/about\/contact-directions\/directory\/clay-hopper\/\">Clay Hopper<\/a> (CFA\u201905) and scenic designer&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cfa\/about\/contact-directions\/directory\/cristina-todesco\/\">Cristina Todesco<\/a> (CFA\u201994,\u201909)&nbsp;took a very different approach\u2014one specifically adapted to the Booth\u2019s black box theater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the summer 2024 issue of <em>CFA<\/em> magazine, get a behind-the-scenes look at how BU technical production and scene design students brought Hopper and Todesco&#8217;s vision to life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a class=\"wp-block-button wp-block-bu-button bu-blocks-block-button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cfa\/magazine\/articles\/2024\/sunday-in-the-booth-with-george\/\">read more<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"headline-2\" class=\"wp-block-editorial-headline\">Honored.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Booth Theatre and the CFA Production Center were designed by internationally-recognized&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.elkus-manfredi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Elkus | Manfredi Architects<\/a>. This theatre arts complex was one of the last projects that internationally acclaimed architect and urban designer&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/metro\/2017\/04\/09\/howard-elkus-architect-who-transformed-parts-boston-dies\/R3AfqYqfLobU3U5qc1i3sO\/story.html\" target=\"_blank\">Howard Elkus<\/a>&nbsp;designed before&nbsp;he passed away.
