Allison, an international concert cellist, has been heralded as \u201ca cellist afraid of nothing\u201d by the Chicago Sun Times and was awarded the coveted Avery Fisher Career Grant and named \u201cYoung Artist of the Year\u201d by Musical America.<\/p>\n
Allison has enjoyed a career performing from London to Moscow to China to Berlin as soloist with orchestras and in recital. She<\/span> gained international attention performing the Elgar Cello Concerto at the invitation of Music Director, Daniel Barenboim and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1991.<\/p>\n Allison\u2019s acclaimed recitals have been presented by the\u00a0Kennedy Center<\/i>, the\u00a0Phillips Collection\u00a0<\/i>in Washington, D.C., the\u00a092nd St. Y<\/i> in New York City,\u00a0Royce Hall<\/i> in Los Angeles, Amsterdam Concertgebouw<\/i>, Casals Hall<\/i> in Tokyo, the\u00a0Cleveland Museum of Art\u00a0<\/i>and the\u00a0White House<\/i>. Allison gained international attention when Music Director,\u00a0Daniel Barenboim\u00a0<\/i>invited her to perform\u00a0 the\u00a0Elgar Cello Concerto<\/i> with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.<\/span><\/p>\n Allison has been invited by the premiere Music Directors of the world including\u00a0Andr\u00e9 Previn, Zubin Mehta, Charles Dutoit\u00a0<\/i>and\u00a0Jaap van Sweden<\/i> from England to Italy to Russia to Japan and the United States. Cellists from her studio have graduated to top universities and major conservatories nationally and internationally.\u00a0 Allison has visited more than 100 schools in communities with under-served needs throughout the United States.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Allison has been Artistic Advisor of the New Philharmonia Orchestra since the 2022-2023 Season and Assistant Conductor of the Me2 Orchestra in the 2023-24 Season. She studied with cellists Harvey Shapiro, Yo-Yo Ma and Eleonore Schoenfeld. She also studied with Felix Galimir, Joan Lunde, Mstislav Rostropovich, Ardyth Alton and Channing Robbins.
