She<\/span> gained international attention performing the Elgar Cello Concerto at the invitation of Music Director, Daniel Barenboim and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1991.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>Allison\u2019s acclaimed recitals have been presented by the\u00a0<i>Kennedy Center<\/i>, the\u00a0<i>Phillips Collection\u00a0<\/i>in Washington, D.C., the\u00a0<i>92nd St. Y<\/i> in New York City,\u00a0<i>Royce Hall<\/i> in Los Angeles, Amsterdam<i> Concertgebouw<\/i>,<i> Casals Hall<\/i> in Tokyo, the\u00a0<i>Cleveland Museum of Art\u00a0<\/i>and the\u00a0<i>White House<\/i>. Allison gained international attention when Music Director,\u00a0<i>Daniel Barenboim\u00a0<\/i>invited her to perform\u00a0 the\u00a0<i>Elgar Cello Concerto<\/i> with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>Allison has been invited by the premiere Music Directors of the world including\u00a0<i>Andr\u00e9 Previn, Zubin Mehta, Charles Dutoit\u00a0<\/i>and\u00a0<i>Jaap van Sweden<\/i> from England to Italy to Russia to Japan and the United States. Allison has received acclaim saying that,\u00a0<strong>\u201c<\/strong><i><strong>She belongs to \u201cthe cr\u00e8me de la cr\u00e8me\u201d of cello talents!<\/strong><\/i><strong>\u201d<\/strong>(Het Noord Hollands Dagblad Amsterdam)\u00a0 The San Francisco Chronicle\u00a0<\/span><span>wrote of Eldredge,\u00a0<strong>\u201c<\/strong><i><strong>she\u00a0will no doubt figure significantly on the musical landscape in the years to come.<\/strong><\/i><strong>&#8220;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>In 1995, Allison made her Carnegie Hall\u00a0<i>soloist debut<\/i> with late legendary Polish composer\u00a0<i>Krzysztof Penderecki\u00a0<\/i>and the<i> Warsaw Sinfonia\u00a0<\/i>to a sold-out audience. She toured the U.S., Europe, and Israel with Penderecki at the baton, performing his Viola Concerto transcribed for cello and orchestra.\u00a0 \u00a0 The Chicago Tribune lauded that,\u00a0<i>&#8220;Eldredge, who has already wowed Chicago Symphony audiences with her unique artistry, was even more dazzling in her rendition of this one-movement concerto (Penderecki)&#8230;the concerto is a tour de force for a cellist who is capable of displaying as wide an aural palette as Eldredge can.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>Allison has toured as\u00a0<i>soloist<\/i> with orchestras including the\u00a0<i>Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields\u00a0<\/i>and<i> Royal Philharmonic\u00a0<\/i>of London<i>, the Moscow Virtuosi, the Symphonies of Montreal, The Netherlands, St. Louis, New World, China National and the Philharmonic Orchestras of New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Osaka and the Boston Pops.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>Allison has released critically-acclaimed solo albums with recording labels Denon Records, Denon Essentials, BMG, Pony Canyon Classics and Arizona University Records. Her performances can be found on\u00a0<i>Amazon Music<\/i> and\u00a0<i>Spotify<\/i> including,\u00a0<i>\u201cConcertos of Saint Saens, Lalo, Glazunov and Faure\u201d\u00a0<\/i>with the Royal Philharmonic and conductor,\u00a0<i>Hans Vonk<\/i>(Canyon Classics) and\u00a0<i>\u201cRomantic Duets\u201d with Jaap Van Sweden\u00a0<\/i>and conductor,\u00a0<i>Alun Francis\u00a0<\/i>(RCA Victor Red Seal).\u00a0<i><strong>&#8220;Eldredge has a soaring sound&#8230;.and speaks with fluency and passion\u2026<\/strong><\/i><\/span><span><i><strong>Hers is virtuosity wholly at the service of the music\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0<\/i>(American Fanfare \u2013 American Record Guide)<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>In the 2023-2024 Season, concerto engagements include performances of Osvaldo Golijov\u2019s Azul &#8211; a cello concerto for amplified cello with the Boston Civic Symphony and Francisco Noya, Music Director and Elgar Cello Concerto with the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra and Music Director, Stuart Malina.<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>In the 2022-23 season, Allison was appointed the first Artist-in-Residence of the Newton Cultural Alliance (NCA) and The Allen Center in West Newton, Ma.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>Following her appointment, Allison founded Cherry Street Music, a\u00a0 less-formal concert series\u00a0<\/span><span>with conversation between artists and audience members &#8211; <\/span><span>celebrating current and past cultures and community for greater unity and diversity through social awareness and music of all genres. \u201cClassical with a Twist\u201d and \u201cAmericana\u201d concerts have quickly become a popular community builder in the historic home and school of progressive educator Nathaniel Allen \u2013 at The Allen Center.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"no-pjax\" href=\"https:\/\/newtonculture.org\/\"><span><u>https:\/\/newtonculture.org\/<\/u><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>Allison has\u00a0taught the next generation throughout her career including at New England Conservatory Preparatory School since 2000, at Harvard University from 2008-2011 and Boston String Academy since 2020. Cellists from her studio have graduated to top universities and major conservatories nationally and internationally.\u00a0 Allison has visited more than 100 schools in communities with under-served needs throughout the United States.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span>Allison has been Artistic Advisor of the New Philharmonia Orchestra since the 2022-2023 Season and Assistant Conductor of the Me2 Orchestra in the 2023-24 Season. She studied with cellists Harvey Shapiro, Yo-Yo Ma and Eleonore Schoenfeld. She also studied with Felix Galimir, Joan Lunde, Mstislav Rostropovich, Ardyth Alton and Channing Robbins. Allison studied at The Juilliard School.
