Degree Progress is an electronic audit which allows you to view program requirements that have been officially fulfilled, as well as those that need to be completed.<\/p>\n Student Process Instructions in the MyBU Student Portal<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n The BU Hub<\/a>\u00a0is the University\u2019s general education requirements for incoming freshmen matriculating Fall 2018<\/strong> and later, and transfer students matriculating Fall 2020<\/strong> and later.\u00a0 Students fulfill the requirements of the BU Hub by taking courses that contain Hub Units in a variety of areas.<\/p>\n A significant portion of Hub units are satisfied through the successful completion of courses within a student’s major. Talk with your advisor before dropping to part time\u2014there are considerations as to\u00a0how this may affect financial aid, housing, and international student status.<\/p>\n Submit Part-Time Petition Form<\/a><\/p>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Effective May 2026<\/p>\n Undergraduate students in BU\u2019s full-time on-campus schools and colleges are considered to be enrolled full time in a term when the student has registered for a minimum of 12 units.<\/p>\n For full-time undergraduate students who enter BU as first-year students, tuition covers up to 152 attempted academic units toward their undergraduate degree. For transfer students, the 152 academic unit limit will be reduced by the number of transfer units applicable to the undergraduate degree. For units taken beyond the 152 unit limit, the student will be charged at the applicable per unit rate.<\/p>\n Undergraduate students generally proceed toward completion of their degree at the rate of 16-18 units per term. Undergraduate students may self-enroll in up to 20 units in a given term. Registration for over 20 units in a term must be approved by the student\u2019s school or college. In addition, registration for over 22 units in a term (>10 in a summer session or 20 in the summer term) must be approved by the Undergraduate Academic Exceptions Committee.<\/p>\n Note: the minimum number of units for most degrees is 128 which assumes that the average enrollment each term will be 16 units for 8 total terms<\/p>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Students who wish to complete coursework outside of Boston University must obtain approval from the appropriate academic department in order to transfer the credits.\u00a0 Pre-approval for transfer credits should be requested at least four weeks prior to registering for the transfer course, using the Transfer Course Equivalency Form below. You must acquire a syllabus from the course to accompany this form. Your official transcript from this outside institution must be submitted to the CFA Registrar, Mary Ducharme.<\/p>\n Please note: <\/strong>transfer credits cannot cover Hub units.<\/p>\n Submit Transfer Course Equivalency Form<\/a><\/p>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Internships are a common part of an undergraduate experience, regardless of your school and major.<\/p>\n CFA FA550, Arts Internship (4 credits), is a guided reflection and discussion-based course that is open to all CFA undergraduates. Many programs within the individual schools also have a built-in internship requirement. Begin building your profile and explore the platform.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n An incomplete grade (\u201cI\u201d) is used only when the student has conferred with the instructor prior to the submission of grades and there are mutually acceptable reasons for the incomplete work. The instructor and student must both<\/strong> sign an Incomplete Grade Form<\/a> indicating the nature of the work and the date by which the work must be completed. Review BU’s Incomplete Grade Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n If the work is not completed within 12 months of the last day of instruction in the semester in which the \u201cI\u201d grade is given, then the grade is permanently changed to an \u201cF\u201d grade.<\/p>\n Submit Incomplete Grade Form<\/a><\/p>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Students should declare their major according to their specific school\u2019s guidelines\u2014usually no later than the end of their sophomore year. Talk to your advisor for specifics.<\/p>\n Minor declaration forms<\/a> are available online. Students can declare minors at any time. CAS minors do not require an advisor signature, but minors in other schools (COM, Questrom, etc.) will require the signature of a minor advisor in that school.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n The goal of this policy is to encourage intellectual exploration in areas outside of specific degree requirements and to allow undergraduate students to take up to 8 elective credits on a pass\/fail basis.<\/p>\n View Policy<\/a><\/p>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n Students can apply for a Dual Degree after they are already enrolled at BU. All CFA Master\u2019s degree candidates may only participate in the Convocation exercises if all degree requirements have been completed prior to the graduation date. \nA:\u00a0During the first two years your Academic Advisor will suggest a Faculty Mentor, but you always have the ability to identify and connect with a mentor on your own. As you develop both artistically and intellectually through your degree, it is expected that you will select a Faculty Mentor who best aligns with your interests and inspires growth.<\/p>\n
\nA:\u00a0It is expected that your Faculty Mentor will have expertise in your chosen area of artistry, but you are not limited to your specific major\/program of study. You can have more than one mentor!<\/p>\n
\nA:\u00a0If you would like your Faculty Mentor to have access to your academic information on the Student Link, you can grant them access through the Link. Your Academic Advisor can help you with this process.
