We then have the privilege of inviting a selection of those artists to join our first year <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cfa\/theatre\/performance-core\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Performance Core<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The undergraduate<\/span><b> Performance Core<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is for BFA candidates pursuing a <\/span><b>BFA in Acting or BFA in Theatre Arts\u2013\u2013Performance. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applicants may submit as an Early Decision applicant for Early Decision 1 or Early Decision 2;\u00a0 A Regular Decision applicant; or a Transfer Student applicant.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"callouts has-1\">\n<div class=\"callout blue\">\n<div class=\"image\"><img src=\"\/cfa\/files\/2022\/06\/Little-row-boat-conjecture-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"little row boat\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<h4>Applying to Theatre at BU<\/h4>\n<p>There are <strong>two parts<\/strong> to the BU application process for prospective undergraduate (BFA) students:<br \/>\n1) Academic Review <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">via the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/apply.commonapp.org\/login\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Common App<\/span><\/a>, and<br \/>\n2) Artistic Review via the <a href=\"https:\/\/app.getacceptd.com\/butheatre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Acceptd<\/a> portal<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applicants must complete <\/span><b>both parts <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the application process to be considered for admission to the BU School of Theatre.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applications for Boston University can be completed via the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/apply.commonapp.org\/login\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Common App<\/a>. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once the Common App has been submitted, and applicants have received a BU ID, they can apply for an <\/span><b>Artistic Review via <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/app.getacceptd.com\/butheatre\"><b>Acceptd<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students <em>should<\/em> apply with the Common App first in order to obtain their BU ID, although the due date is not until after the Acceptd due date for ED2 and Regular Decision applicants. If students submit their Acceptd application prior to obtaining their BU ID, they should email the School of Theatre\u2019s Director of Admissions Matt Lupulio (<a href=\"mailto:mlupulio@bu.edu\" data-outlook-id=\"34d1c150-518a-418b-ba75-7081fa2578a1\">mlupulio@bu.edu<\/a>) with their BU ID once they receive it.<\/p>\n<p><b>Artistic Reviews<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> vary slightly depending on the core program for which you apply. Applicants must submit a prescreen through <a href=\"https:\/\/app.getacceptd.com\/butheatre\"><b>Acceptd<\/b><\/a>.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In <a href=\"https:\/\/app.getacceptd.com\/butheatre\"><b>Acceptd<\/b><\/a>, Performance Core applicants must choose from: <\/span><b>Performance Core<i> Early Decision 1,\u00a0 <\/i>Performance Core<i> Early Decision 2, <\/i><\/b>or <b>Performance Core<i> Regular Decision<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, when selecting a \u201cProgram\u201d in Acceptd. Performance Core is best suited for students pursuing BFA degree in Acting or Theatre Arts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All artistic applications require a resume, headshot, and basic information questions. Our artistic applications also have an option for a letter of recommendation, although this is not required, in addition to an optional writing prompt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>For Performance Core applicants:<\/strong>\u00a0Although students do not select their major until the end of their freshman year, we are interested in knowing what major applicants are interested in to review their materials more accurately.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For those interested in pursuing the <strong>Acting major<\/strong> \u2013 Students must submit 2 contrasting one-minute-long monologues. One is a standard monologue, while the other is a site-specific monologue including a secondary activity. These pieces can contrast in any way you prefer: time period, tone, structure, etc., as long as we get to see more than one facet of your acting skills. Students are welcome to submit supplemental materials with their artistic application.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For those interested in pursuing the <strong>Theatre Arts: Performance major<\/strong> \u2013 Students must submit 2 contrasting one-minute-long monologues. One is a standard monologue, while the other is a site-specific monologue including a secondary activity. These pieces can contrast in any way you prefer: time period, tone, structure, etc., as long as we get to see more than one facet of your acting skills. We also ask that students interested in pursuing the Theatre Arts major upload a third piece, in video or written format, detailing their experience and interest in aspects of theater aside from acting.
