Students also consider the role of sight, insight, and perception in relation to processes of making. Critical dialogue and rigorous expectations about studio practice support work toward a fully formed artistic vision. Following rigorous perceptual training in the Foundation program, students are given their own private studios and embark on developing their own artistic vision and voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Required in the Junior and Senior years, the Contemporary Issues seminar provides context for the studio through readings and discussion of art theory and training in professional practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students work closely with core painting faculty, benefiting from both one-on-one mentorship and group critiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Undergraduates also&nbsp;benefit from studio visits with visiting artists, including guest speakers from the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cfa\/visual-arts\/lectures\/tnls\/\">Tuesday Night Lecture Series<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students are required to enroll in the History of Art lecture courses on twentieth century art, and may elect to take additional art history courses. Students may also take coursework outside of the School of Visual Arts and explore programs&nbsp;across the BU community. Undergraduates are encouraged in their senior year to develop solo or two-person exhibitions in the student-run Gallery 5. <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h5>BFA Painting, Minor in Biology<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>My experience at BU has been great! I\u2019ve had the opportunity to meet many incredible people who\u2019ve inspired me in many ways. I\u2019ve enjoyed each of my classes; the professors are extremely knowledgeable in their fields and have also been supportive and approachable. I took a sophomore painting course with Professor Jill Grimes, who truly helped me grow both as an artist and a painter. I&#8217;m interested in continuing to explore the intersection of art and medicine, specifically with medical illustration. I am a content creator and on the eBoard of the Graphic Medicine Club, where I research scientific articles and then help create and design original content for infographic posts, ultimately exploring the connections between art and science to promote health literacy. Spacious and light-filled, the studios have expansive views of Boston and the Charles River from the fifth floor of the CFA Building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Undergraduate students have access to their own fully equipped wood shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through electives, students are also granted access to the Printmaking facilities, which include etching, lithography, silkscreen, bookmaking, letterpress, and digital print studios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional facilities available to graduate through elective courses include a welding shop, ceramics facilities, black-and-white darkrooms, digital media studios including vinyl cutters and and a Risograph printer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students have access to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cfa\/students\/visual\/library-equipment\/\">Visual Arts Resource Library<\/a>, a non-lending library of art books, periodicals, and media resources including computers, scanners, printers, and digital cameras and other equipment available for short-term
