This major is designed for students who believe in the worth of visual arts as a component of the education of the whole child, who engage in sustained studio production, and who enjoy teaching children and adolescents. It provides students with the opportunity to become skilled artists as well as to prepare for teaching art in Pre-K\u201312 settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the required studio, education, and liberal arts coursework, students complete one semester of pre-practicum and one semester of practicum. These placements when successfully completed meet the Massachusetts Department of Education requirement for a Visual Arts Initial teaching license at either the elementary (Prek-8) or secondary (5-12) level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to entering the BFA Art Education program, students must complete the Foundation program<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
