Boston University Tanglewood Institute

Announcing BUTI from Anywhere 2021!

Boston University Tanglewood Institute’s virtual summer 2021 program, BUTI from Anywhere, will feature twenty online programs for instrumentalists, singers, and composers ages 14 through 20 from June 20 to July 31, 2021.

This summer will begin with our Two-Week Workshops where you will have the opportunity to hone your craft in a small group setting. You’ll focus on the fundamentals of technique and musicianship, work alongside new friends in group masterclasses, and perform. Each workshop is tailored to your respective instrument.

The Young Artists Programs for orchestral instruments, voice, piano, composition, and harp will run for three weeks. In these programs, you can expect to receive professional standards of training typical of college and conservatory programs. You’ll participate in individual lessons, academic classes, masterclasses, recording projects, and performance.

As part of BUTI from Anywhere, you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of elective courses in music theory, music history, health and wellness, and more. The program is designed for you to take control of your own learning and participate in as many electives as you like in addition to your program’s curriculum.

Because of BUTI’s special relationship with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, you have the opportunity to learn and grow through intensive programming in the presence of some of the world’s greatest music professionals and teachers. Our faculty is drawn from the BSO and Boston University, as well as from the BUTI alumni community.

Even from home this summer, BUTI will deliver something you can’t find anywhere else. You’ll meet new people, pursue your passion (or discover a new one), and open your mind to the world and the people in it. You’ll step outside your comfort zone to challenge yourself, broaden your perspective, and forge bonds that last a lifetime. Together, it starts here. At BUTI from Anywhere.
