Alexandre Abdoulaev is a musicologist, conductor, arranger, and jazz and classical pianist. He earned his Ph. D. in Historical Musicology at Boston University (GRS’14), and holds a BM in piano performance and an MA in Musicology from the Catholic University of America (BTR’03, BTR’06).

Alexandre is currently a Professor of Music at West Chester University, and has given papers on the works of Artie Shaw and Stephen Sondheim at multiple national and international conferences. In addition to various academic pursuits, Alexandre is an active solo and ensemble performer in Washington, D. C., Baltimore, and Philadelphia, where he performs with, manages, and organizes the contemporary seven-piece jazz band, “The Ghosts of Weimar.”

In 2014, Alexandre was a featured guest on WGBH’s Under the Radar with Callie Crossley, and a featured conductor in the 2016 season at the Barnstormers Theatre in Tamworth, NH, where he lead a series of critically acclaimed performances of Stephen Sondheim’s “A Little Night Music.” Alexandre currently resides in Baltimore, Maryland.
