2024 Fall Arts Fair

Students, staff, and faculty join the BU Arts Initiative every fall, along with BU Arts Programs, academic units, and selected Boston area arts organizations to explore all that BU and Boston have to offer. The fair offers discounts, special offers, internship opportunities, and more! BU students also have a chance to sign up for a pair of raffle tickets only during the Arts Fair to see the Blue Man Group live at the Charles Playhouse.

Boston Area Organizations
  • The QT Library is a brick-and-mortar LGBTQIA+ lending library and substance-free community space for all ages coming to Boston, MA. Just like any public library, the QT Library will be a warm and welcoming physical space where our community can gather around shared interests and free resources.
  • Pao Arts Center’s mission is to celebrate and strengthen the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community of Chinatown and Greater Boston through access to culturally relevant art, education, and creative programs. Pao Arts Center functions in service of BCNC’s and BHCC’s goals to support the social well-being, economic success, and education of their constituents.
  • Jean Appolon Expressions (JAE) is a Haitian folkloric and contemporary-infused dance organization that cultivates hope and healing to foster more expressive and socially just communities through professional performances, education, cultural experiences, and the celebration of the joy of movement for all.
  • Coolidge Corner Theatre is a nonprofit, independent cinema and community cultural center in the Coolidge Corner section of Brookline, Massachusetts, specializing in international, documentary, animated, and independent film selections, series, classes, and seminars. Coolidge Corner Theatre will host a raffle at the fair!
  • TheHarvard Art Museums are free for all visitors no matter if they are a student, faculty, or general public. Harvard’s oldest museum features European & American art from the Middle Ages to the present day. bring to light the intrinsic power of art and promote critical looking and thinking for students, faculty, and the public. Harvard Art Museums will be giving away raffle prizes!
  • Institute of Contemporary Art is an art museum and exhibition space located in Boston, Massachusetts. The Institute of Contemporary Art strives to share the pleasures of reflection, inspiration, provocation, and imagination that contemporary art offers through public access to art, artists, and the creative process.
  • Unbound Visual Arts is a unique Allston-Brighton based non-profit art organization and we serve the Greater Boston community with impactful educational programs and exhibits to encourage learning, engagement, and change. In our curatorial approach, we explore topics, subjects, and concerns that are relevant to our contemporary moment — examining issues such as environmental sustainability, health and wellness, gender and racial equity, and the human condition.
  • MASSCreative organizes artists, creatives, cultural groups, and changemakers to advocate for a more equitable and inclusive creative sector for all residents of the Commonwealth. MASSCreative will be giving away goodie bags and totes!
  • Handel and Haydn Society performs Baroque and Classical music with freshness, vitality, and creativity that inspires all ages. H+H has been captivating audiences for 208 consecutive seasons (the most of any performing arts organization in the United States), speaking to its singular success at converting new audiences to this extraordinary music, generation after generation. Handel and Haydn Society will have a giveaway of a pair of student Masterpasses, including tickets to the entire H+H concert season!
  • Boston Ujima Project is a democratic, member-run organization building a cooperative business, arts, and investment ecosystem with a mission to return wealth to working-class communities of color.
  • White Snake Projects is an activist opera company doing mission-driven work that unites artmaking with civic practice. We make socially relevant music theater/opera exploring difficult issues that resonate with our community.
  • The mission of the New England Philharmonic (NEP), a volunteer orchestra led by Music Director Tianhui Ng, is to foster the composition and appreciation of contemporary classical music by performing commissions and recent works alongside traditional repertoire in concerts that engage and electrify audiences. Entering its 48th season, the NEP continues to produce imaginative concert programming and the Young Artist Competition, Call for Scores, and Composer-in-Residence programs. The NEP thrives on those moments when performers, composers, and audiences share the same time and space.
  • The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is the collection and unique vision of Isabella Stewart Gardner based on her travels and social network of artists. Today, the Gardner also showcases contemporary artists in conversation with our historic collection, as well as public programs and community events such as concerts, lectures, and free evenings.
  • Broadway In Boston is your one stop shop for quality entertainment in Boston, presenting a number of direct from Broadway tours and an ongoing production of Blue Man Group in our historic venues. We are conveniently located in the heart of downtown Boston within walking distance to parking, restaurants, public transit and other area attractions.
  • The Celebrity Series of Boston is a non-profit live performing arts organization whose mission is to enrich and inspire the community through exceptional live performances.
BU Organizations
  • Student Wellbeing is a campus-wide initiative to support students’ health and well-being during their time at BU. We believe that everyone deserves to feel good and that how students feel matters.
  • Newbury Center provides social events, personal and professional development opportunities, and holistic advising to BU’s first-generation undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.
  • The BU Art Galleries hosts rotating exhibitions throughout the year. The galleries are free and open to all BU students, staff, faculty, and the Boston community.
  • Boston Playwrights’ Theatre is an award-winning professional theatre dedicated to new works for the stage. Located on the campus of Boston University, we produce a season of new work, an annual “marathon” of 10-minute plays, and a festival of teenage writers. As the home of the Boston University graduate Playwriting Program, we host workshops and readings by MFA writers.
  • The Creative Writing Program is a fully-funded MFA that accepts 18 students every year: 8 poets and 10 fiction writers who undergo an intensive course of study, receiving their degrees in 1-1.5 years. The program also offers undergraduate creative writing courses at the introductory level, as well as advanced courses in fiction and poetry.
  • BU Libraries supports all teaching and research activity at BU — including teaching & research in the arts! Explore our rich collections encompassing fine arts, performance arts, music, film, literature, and more! Let our arts subject specialists be your guide to exploring art from prehistoric to cutting edge, diving deep into cultural production created around the globe.
  • BU School of Visual Arts offers a personal, supportive program centered on a rigorous fine arts curriculum deeply rooted in studio practice. Find your voice in experimentation and exploration through studio work, electives, internships, minors, and exposure to visiting artists.
  • EPIC (Engineering Product Innovation Center) is a 15,000-square-foot engineering and manufacturing facility located in the heart of BU’s Charles River Campus. We provide space, tools and expertise to help students learn how to use various fabrication techniques and technologies to develop ideas and fabricate components. We are open to all members of the BU community.
  • BU Dance Program serves students, the BU community, and the general public. Whatever your passion, BU Dance has something to offer: PE Progressive courses in social dance and dance technique, specialized recreational dance classes including aerial, Pole, and Pilates, private training, events in our Dance Theater, and the dance minor, a collaboration with CFA School of Theatre.
  • LGBTQIA+ Student Resource Center provides a gentle and affirming space for students to explore their identities and find community with one another. Through collaboration with BU departments and off-campus partners, the center provides programming and leadership opportunities that show students that there is life for them after graduation and equips them to lead in their chosen fields. The work of the center necessitates ensuring that it is only one of many places where LGBTQIA+ students feel welcome. Through relationship-building across BU’s three campuses, the center advocates for equitable policies and processes and models the importance of coalition-building in developing a just environment.
  • History of Art and Architecture at Boston University grants BA, MA, and PhD degrees in the history of art and architecture as well as a Certificate in Museum Studies. Faculty expertise spans the full range from antiquity to the present and virtually worldwide, allowing us to offer a global curriculum in the history of art and architecture. Our location in Boston also brings with it the opportunity to benefit from the world-class museums of Boston, Cambridge, and the greater metropolitan area.
  • The undergraduate program in Cinema & Media Studies (CIMS) offers students a comprehensive education in the history, culture, aesthetics, and theory of moving-image media. We offer a diversity of courses, study abroad opportunities, experiential learning opportunities, and film events all year long.
  • School of Theatre offers BFA and MFA programs in various areas of Performance, Directing, Design, Production, and Management, as well as a Theatre Arts minor. We believe each student is unique and should be able to pursue their interests while receiving strong foundational techniques within the art form. Valuing each student’s goals and gifts while furthering the conversation of diversity and inclusion makes the School of Theatre at Boston University College of Fine Arts a leading program in the country.
  • Innovate@BU is a University-wide initiative to enable all BU Terriers to become drivers of innovation in their own lives, careers, and communities. Through its physical home on the Charles River campus, the IDG Capital Student Innovation Center, it provides a variety of signature programs that foster an entrepreneurial mindset and help students turn their ideas into something real.
