Each year at the Best of BU Alumni Awards, the Boston University Alumni Association (BUAA) recognizes Terriers who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in their respective fields. For their contributions, these individuals receive the Distinguished Alumni Award and Young Alumni Award—the highest honors bestowed upon alumni by the University.

This year, at the 77th Best of BU Alumni Awards during Alumni Weekend, the BUAA will recognize six esteemed alumni. From producing beloved films and shaping the civil rights movement to advancing justice and spearheading innovations in technology and medicine, the 2025 honorees exemplify the spirit and excellence of Boston University.

Peter S. Del Vecho (CFA’80)

Producer, Walt Disney Animation Studios

A producer at Walt Disney Animation Studios, Peter Del Vecho has produced major films including Frozen, Frozen II, The Princess and the Frog, Raya and the Last Dragon, and Wish.

After graduating from Boston University, Del Vecho worked in theatre production for more than a decade, including at the famed Guthrie theater in Minneapolis. He joined Disney in 1995, beginning in production management before becoming a producer.

Del Vecho has received several prestigious awards, including the Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature for Frozen, the Producers Guild Award for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures for Frozen, and the BU College of Fine Arts Distinguished Alumni Award. For his work on The Princess and the Frog, he received three Oscar® nominations, including Best Animated Feature.

A CONVERSATION WITH PETER S. DEL VECHO (CFA’80)

Peter S. Del Vecho (CFA’80), an Academy Award winner and recipient of the 2025 BU Distinguished Alumni Award, engaged in a fireside chat with CFA Dean Harvey Young on Friday, September 26, at the CFA Student Lounge. Del Vecho shared his experiences since graduating from BU – from working in theatre production to joining Disney and producing major films including Frozen, Frozen II, The Princess and the Frog, Raya and the Last Dragon, and Wish.
