Excerpt

The editors at Boston Art Review nailed down their favorite art moments of 2022, what they considered the stand-out exhibitions and events of the past year. We’re honored that BU School of Visual Arts‘ MFA Painting and Sculpture Thesis 2022 Exhibition, which was on view from March 18-April 3 at BU Art Galleries‘ Faye G., Jo, and James Stone Gallery, was included as an editor’s pick.

I stumbled across Boston University’s MFA exhibition at Stone Gallery and discovered a treasure trove of eighteen emerging artists. The group of painters and sculptors started their MFA studies in fall of 2020, a uniquely peculiar time to fortify one’s artistic curiosities.

MFA Thesis Painting 2022

Revisit the MFA Painting & Sculpture 2022 Thesis Show at Boston University

This remarkable group of students started their MFA journey in the Fall of 2020, optimistic that the confusion and uncertainty of a global pandemic would soon fade. The works in this exhibition point to where each artist started nearly two years ago, to a point of arrival today, and to where they may be heading. The strength of their efforts suggests an overwhelming potential that fills us with hope.
