This interview first aired on WCVB Channel 5 Boston on December 13, 2022.

Excerpt

Richard Raiselis, Associate Professor of Art, Painting at BU School of Visual Arts was interviewed by WCVB Channel 5 Boston’s The Chronicle for a piece about a Boston-based muralist, Felipe Ortiz, who applies the science of color in his work.

In the interview, Professor Raiselis speaks about his course, The Science of Color, where he teaches students how to “trick” their audience by changing what we see in color fields.

“The painter always has to ask, ‘What color do I see and how do I make this situation available to the viewer?'” says Raiselis, whose Science of Color course is already filled for the Spring 2023 semester.
