Joan & Edgar Booth Theatre and CFA Production Center Earns LEED Silver Certification
Joan & Edgar Booth Theatre and College of Fine Arts Production Center has been awarded the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver Certification for sustainability. The certification validates the facility’s green features, including operations and maintenance of a resource-efficient, healthy, and cost-effective space.
The award-winning dramatic arts complex, which has received honor awards for design excellence by several organizations, is setting the stage for the future of sustainable design. LED lighting fixtures and occupancy sensors reduce energy consumption and the energy recovery unit captures and reuses air to provide heating and cooling.
The state-of-the-art facility is climate change ready, with mechanical equipment situated on the roof so that systems are above the projected flood level. Also, as part of Boston University’s Sustainable Cleaning Program, the BU custodial team uses 100% Green Seal or EcoLogo certified cleaning products and procedures.
