Kara Healey is an art educator and photographer. She holds an MFA in Photography and Related Studies from Parsons School of Design. Other degrees include an M.S.ed in Moderate Special Needs from Simmons College and a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. Kara has served as Head of the Visual Arts at Landmark High School and Gallery Director for eight years. She has spent her tenure there elevating the department from a small two-course curriculum to a full and comprehensive visual arts program. She instructs Advanced Photography, Printmaking, and Portfolio, classes she designed to prepare students for advanced study in college. Kara’s educational career has been focused on the intersection of LBLD and the visual arts, and how to design and utilize differentiated instruction in the art classroom to allow students to achieve their full potential as problem-solvers, artists, and independent thinkers.
