John Genovese has been involved with BU Online Music Education Program since its inception in 2005, serving as a facilitator and instructor, and developing the music theory tutorial. He has served as a Teaching Assistant at Boston University, UC–San Diego, and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, where he was also Assistant Administrative Director from 2000 until 2002.

Originally from Falls Church, Virginia, Mr. Genovese attended the Manhattan School of Music, the University of Michigan, the University of California–San Diego, and Boston University, studying composition with Aaron Jay Kernis, Evan Chambers, Chinary Ung, Theodore Antoniou and Lukas Foss. His music has been heard around the country, including performances in Miami by members of the New World Symphony, and at the Ernest Bloch Festival in Newport, Oregon. His Piano Quartet was awarded first prize in the composers’ competition at Illinois State University, and his septet Or This received an honorable mention in the Ladislav Kubik International Prize in Composition.
