Gregory Gómez

Associate Professor, Sculpture and Drawing

Gregory Gómez is a sculptor and painter whose work reference mathematics, nature, language, and other archetypical forms, making physical what was graphic information. The resulting sculptures, paintings, and drawings are mysterious, semi-scientific messages filled with symbology that draws viewers in with their cryptic meaning, and visually and tactically rich materials.

In addition to gallery exhibitions in Boston and New York, his museum exhibitions include The DeCordova Museum Biennial, The Fitchburg Museum, and the Brattleboro Art Museum in Brattleboro, Vermont. His permanent public art commissions include the Harvard Medical School; The Challenger Learning Center in Tallahassee, FL; the Addison Train Station and Chicago Branch Library in Chicago, IL; The Williamson College of Business Administration, Youngstown State University, OH; Grinnell College, Grinnell, IA; and the Montpelier Transit Center in Montpelier, VT.

Gregory Gómez taught at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, Maryland; The Rhode Island School of Design; and Wellesley and Wheelock Colleges, in Boston, before joining Boston University’s College of Fine Arts as an Associate Faculty of Sculpture.
