{"id":189,"date":"2017-10-23T12:06:57","date_gmt":"2017-10-23T16:06:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cell-met\/?page_id=189"},"modified":"2025-02-24T13:03:18","modified_gmt":"2025-02-24T18:03:18","slug":"mentoring","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cell-met\/mentoring\/","title":{"rendered":"Pathways and Mentoring"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Mission:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>To support the development of a robust engineering workforce through programmatic offerings and contributing to the body of knowledge on mentoring.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Pathways and Mentoring has two overarching goals:<br \/>\n<strong><\/p>\n<h3>Goal 1: Pathways<\/h3>\n<p><em>Expand participation at all levels within CELL-MET, creating pathways into engineering, and coordinating with technical goal (IEGs) teams in planning varied activities<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Goal 2: Mentoring<\/h3>\n<p><em>Conduct educational research and activities and practices centered in mentoring and professional development<\/em><br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nSome of the actions we are taking to achieve these goals are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Partnering with technical IEG teams to create and plan activities that support and expand participation<\/li>\n<li>Offering high-quality research experiences for undergraduate students, high school students, and teachers through our REU, RET, and REM programs<\/li>\n<li>Provide mentor training for mentors and mentees across the entire CELL-MET community<\/li>\n<li>Create opportunities for individuals to contribute to the center at all levels<\/li>\n<li>Create researcher- and practitioner-focused resources to support the development of pathways and mentoring opportunities beyond the bounds of CELL-MET<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mission: To support the development of a robust engineering workforce through programmatic offerings and contributing to the body of knowledge on mentoring.
