He serves as the founding Executive Director and Principal Investigator for CARB-X, an &gt;$800M international public-private partnership to accelerate global antibacterial innovation.\u00a0<\/span><span>Key partners of CARB-X include the US Government\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.phe.gov\/about\/barda\/Pages\/default.aspx\">Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority<\/a><span>\u00a0(BARDA) and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.niaid.nih.gov\/\">U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases<\/a><span>\u00a0(NIAID)\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/wellcome.org\/\">Wellcome<\/a><span>, the U.K. and German governments (the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/groups\/the-global-amr-innovation-fund\">Global AMR Innovation Fund<\/a><span>\u00a0and the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmbf.de\/bmbf\/en\/home\/home_node.html\">Federal Ministry of Education and Research<\/a><span>), and the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gatesfoundation.org\/\">Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation<\/a><span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/scholar.google.com\/citations?user=m4to2LMAAAAJ&amp;hl=en\">Professor Outterson\u2019s research<\/a><span>\u00a0focuses on the law and economics of antimicrobial resistance,\u00a0particularly push and pull incentives for antimicrobials.\u00a0He has served as a senior author on many key research reports on antibiotic innovation, including\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chathamhouse.org\/sites\/default\/files\/public\/Research\/Global%20Health\/0214SustainableAntibiotics.pdf\">Chatham House<\/a><span>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/aspe.hhs.gov\/reports\/analytical-framework-examining-value-antibacterial-products-0\">ERG<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/drive-ab.eu\/\">DRIVE-AB<\/a><span>, and the\u00a0<em>Lancet<\/em>\u00a0Commission. Professor Outterson received the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/apua.org\/apua-leadership-award\">2015 Leadership Award<\/a><span>\u00a0by the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/apua.org\/\">Alliance for the Prudent Use of Antibiotics<\/a><span>\u00a0for his research and advocacy work. He has testified before the US Congress, UK Parliamentary working groups, the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/\">World Health Organization<\/a><span>\u00a0(WHO), and state legislatures.
