Dr. Kudakwashe Magwedere is a senior global health security and One Health expert with over 20 years of experience in public health, veterinary services, wildlife health, and governance of food safety in international trade. He has led the design and implementation of multisectoral government programs and regulatory systems supporting pandemic prevention, zoonotic disease control, and sanitary trade compliance. As Senior Project Management Specialist for Global Health Security at USAID/Southern Africa, he has guided cross-sectoral efforts to strengthen health security systems and emergency response capacities. Dr. Magwedere has managed complex, high-value foreign assistance programs across Southern Africa, ensuring alignment with international standards. His technical leadership spans a couple of diverse national government service and global partnerships including with USAID, FAO, UNDP, GIZ, and the SADC-EU Partnership. He is a recognized expert contributor to Codex Alimentarius, WOAH, and FAO/WHO JEMRA. He holds a PhD in Agriculture (One Health), two master’s degrees, and a degree in Veterinary Medicine.
