{"id":2288,"date":"2022-02-03T14:08:30","date_gmt":"2022-02-03T19:08:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cds-faculty\/?page_id=2288"},"modified":"2025-05-30T11:23:28","modified_gmt":"2025-05-30T15:23:28","slug":"how-to-register-for-courses","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cds-faculty\/programs-admissions\/undergraduate\/bs-courses\/how-to-register-for-courses\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Register for Courses"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 aria-level=\"3\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">How to Register for Courses<\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n<h4><strong>Read this only after you have reviewed the steps, links, and resources from the previous guides.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Once you have read through all the information provided to you in the steps above, you are ready to register for your four, 4-credit academic courses.\u202f We encourage you to register as soon as you are able.\u202f <\/span><strong>Your course registration can change by adding and dropping courses from now through the second week of classes.\u202f<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Enroll in the 100-200 range for your first semester<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>300-level courses are for students in their third year of college or higher<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>400- and 500-level courses are for students in their final 2-3 semesters of college. <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Sometimes 500-level courses are graduate-level!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">NOT<\/span> register in anything that is 600+ as those are graduate-level courses<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Make note of any co- or pre-requisites you see.<br \/>\n<\/strong>&#8211; A <strong>co-<\/strong>requisite is a course that must be taken at the same time <em>or before<\/em> the associated class.\u00a0<em>Something taken\u00a0<strong>concurrently.<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; A <strong>pre-<\/strong>requisite is a course that must be taken <strong>beforehand.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once you are satisfied with your schedule, please email cds-advising@bu.edu to let them know you\u2019re done!
