I Never Thought of That! Exploring Convergent Research Frontiers with Futures Thinking

  • Starts: 10:00 am on Friday, May 22, 2026
  • Ends: 12:00 pm on Friday, May 22, 2026
Hosted by BU URBAN. Convergent research fuses disciplines to crack problems no single field can solve alone. But how do you even see a problem that doesn't yet have a name? In this workshop, hosted by Dr. Patrick Keys, Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth & Environment and CDS Faculty Fellow, we'll use sci-fi prototyping and other futures methods to surface, sharpen, and define the frontier challenges that convergent research is uniquely built to tackle. You'll leave with a practical toolbox of skills for anticipating frontier science questions, and perhaps some new ideas for how a convergent research proposal might begin to take shape. RSVP by May 19.
