  • Starts: 6:30 pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2025
  • Ends: 7:30 pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2025
Ever wonder how Starbucks picks its store locations? How Google Maps builds driving directions? Or how wildfires are fought? In all of these examples, a technology referred to as GIS (geographic information systems) is pivotal. A GIS can help users build maps, analyze data, and build predictions for optimizing the locations of stores, routing traffic, placing water tankers, and so much more. In this session, you will get an introduction to the tools and software available at BU called ArcGIS, which is used by thousands of businesses, non-profits, and government agencies around the globe. ArcGIS includes a full API and SDK ecosystem for custom scripting and development, configurable application builders, as well as AI tools that leverage libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and others. Join Brian Baldwin, lead solution engineer at Esri, and learn about how you can start diving into GIS technology at BU!
