Her doctoral research examined how different forms of memory and attention relate to language outcomes in people with aphasia, using resting-state fMRI. As a postdoctoral researcher, she aims to investigate the effectiveness of interventions for improving word retrieval in individuals with aphasia, as well as strategies for implementing evidence-based practices in clinical settings to enhance functional communication. She is also involved in a study exploring whether cerebellar transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), combined with speech-language therapy, can support word retrieval in aphasia.

Research Interests

The role of cognitive skills, such as attention and working memory, in the language abilities of people and with aphasia and neurologically intact older adults

The development and assessment of semantically based language treatments for aphasia

Translating evidence-based language research into clinically relevant interventions that improve functional communication outcomes in people with aphasia -The role of multilingualism in the assessment and treatment of aphasia

<h4 class="bu_collapsible" aria-expanded="false"tabindex="0" role="button">Conference Presentations

Posters
Serrichio, A.C, & Sandberg, C.W.
